PRECEPT

Usually at the meeting held in December/January the Precept is discussed for the following financial year and December 2007’s meeting was no exception.

Money for the Parish Council comes largely from a small proportion of the Council Tax which all electors pay, and which is clearly identified on your Council Tax bill: this is called the Precept.

Over the past few years, the financial regulations governing the operations and investments of Parish Councils have become much more stringent, and quite rightly so.

Financial controls and reporting must comply with the law and balance sheets and profit and loss statements must be accurate and present a fair picture of the financial position of the Council

For 2008/09 it has been agreed that the Precept request will be £11000.
